1) RSS READER

What is RSS?
Really Simple Syndication (RSS) is a form of XML used to distribute news and content from websites such as personal weblogs. Project D.U. uses RSS to bring you headlines and portions of posts from blogs in our network and those that you might add to the Project D.U. Reader. Please note you can only add websites with RSS feeds to the Project D.U. Reader. It accepts Atom feeds, XML feeds, RSS feeds, etc.

RssReader is a program to read RSS and Atom news feeds.

RssReader collect news in the background at user configurable intervals and warn with a little popup in the system tray that there is a new message arrived. You can click the news headline to see a short description of the news and click or open the original news web page in an RssReader browser or default browser window.

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a format for syndicating news.

Many news and web log sites support RSS by adding these pictograms as
or to their web pages.

RssReader support RSS versions 0.9x, 1.0 and 2.0 and Atom 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3.

Running under Windows 98/NT/Me/2000/XP/2003.

RssReader is FREEWARE, which means that you can freely copy the original installation package without any modifications and give it away to all of your friends. We don’t take any responsibility for any damage to your computer caused by installing or inappropriate use of this program.

2) ISSUE TRACKER

Important Note :(Problem tracker involes issue tracker as a tool , so problem tracker is more advanced program than issue tracker. But in this project,  we will probably deal with issue tracker)ProblemTracker is a powerful, easy-to-use Web-based collaboration tool to help companies track business issues and automatically manage them through to resolution.ProblemTracker is used in over 800 companies (30,000+ licensees) for applications including:

Our customers are from a broad base of industries, including broadcasting, consulting, entertainment, financial, government, hardware, health care, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, retail,  software, system integration, telecommunication, transportation, and utility.ProblemTracker is a fully Web-based system providing:

  • Tracking — Tracking reported bugs, defects,  business issues, enhancement requests, etc.
  • Workflow — Automatic routing and notification to get issues resolved.
  • Process enforcement — Managing and enforcing your company’s process of resolving issues.
  • Status — Up-to-the-minute project information and status to team members everywhere to foster collaboration.
  • Communication — Capturing discussions and sharing knowledge.
  • Accountability — History and audit trail.

ProblemTracker is very cost-effective.  Most installations recover their investment within a few short months through increased productivity, improved products, improved customer satisfaction, and sometimes simply by ensuring each fix of an important bug makes it into the next release.ProblemTracker is available as software (for you to install on your server) as well as a hosted solution. For more information : http://www.problemtracker.com/

3) EXPENDITURE TRACKER

Expenditure tracker is a program similar to  the issue tracker project as program structure. But, since the purpose and the GUI of the project is much different than the issue tracker, they appear quite discrete projects if you visualize them in your mind as an end user. In our model, there is a  boss who owns the whole company. By the way, our imaginary company works for the transportation of anything from a location to a definite destination.

İn addition, there are employees. Some of them are working for administrative and secretarial service in the company. Accountant is one of these type of employees. Others are working for the main purpose of the company: TRANSPORTATION!!!. Motor cycle drivers, car drivers and van drivers can be given as an example for the employees which are in the transportation task.

Each employee has an account on the system. System will have the ability of serving through internet. That is to say, any employee can access her/his account via internet. There will be a hierarchical account monitoring on the system. The employees in the transportation task can only monitor their own accounts. However, the administrative staff can monitor all the transportation employees’ accounts with their own personal accounts. The boss, of course can see any of the empployee’s account.

Every transportation employee can enter data to only her/his account. The datas will be the reports about the daily tasks. Namely she/he will say: “Carrying smth from X to Y costed 15 YTLs. But on the way, we made a small accident and there happened a 5 YTLs cost due to the broken directional signal light of the company car.”  When a report is sent by the transportation employee, she/he will wait for the respond that will come from the administrative staff. The repot that is submitted daily will be assessed by the responsible administrave employee and another report will be given as an answer to the transportation worker. Reports given by the administrative staff will not only be about assessment. They may also include some duties to be discharged by the transportation employee. The boss will be able to see which employee is free on that time. And can able to find a convenient driver to take him to his home or anywhere.

The system will also involve a database for the reports given daily. It will also form an archive of the previous reports. Any report will be accessed according to a key. A key can be a date, a word from the report body or from the sender etc. It will be written in java or JSP.
